1855年，他开始上学，那所学校只有一个班级，校长和老师都是恩格尔先生。因为爱迪生有刨根问底的天性，在上课时经常经常问老师问题一些另类的问题，仅仅三个月的时间，就被老师以“低能儿”的名义撵出学校。
